CHAPTER VII · CAPELLA UNIVERSITY

Capella University.

FlexPath rewards speed and punishes drift — there is no cohort pulling you along. We build the pace for you: assessment scored against the rubric before you submit, and the next one started the day the last one clears.

MOSTLY NURSES, HONESTLY

The largest bench in the hall is nursing — MSN, DNP, FNP, PMHNP, AGACNP and RN-to-BSN. Care plans, evidence-based practice papers, clinical hours, IRB files and capstones are the work we do most days of the week, for people who are on shift while they study.

QUERIES ON RECORD

What Capella students ask us.

My assessment came back at Basic. What now?

Do not rewrite it yet. Put the returned work beside the scoring guide and mark which row each comment belongs to, because a resubmission that improves the writing without moving a row scores the same twice. Most returns cluster on one or two criteria, and once they are named the revision is usually an afternoon rather than a restart.

I have paid for a window and used two months of it.

Then the useful number is submissions per remaining week, not hours worked. Count what is left, divide it into the days you have, and compare that against what you have actually managed so far. If the answer is that the pace has to double, that is worth knowing now while an extension or a lighter plan is still a choice rather than an emergency.

Can I move between FlexPath and GuidedPath?

Programs vary and your enrollment advisor holds the real answer, so ask them rather than a forum. What is worth deciding first is which format actually suits you: self-paced rewards people who work steadily without external deadlines and punishes everyone else, and that is a fact about your working life rather than about your ability.

How do I get a specialist who knows my specific track?

Name the track and the courses when you write in, not just the school. Matching here runs on the credential the work needs — a psychiatric-mental-health course goes to somebody holding that certification — and a request that says only Capella gets a slower and less accurate match than one that says which program and which assessment.

Is anything about this visible to Capella?

Nothing. There is no communication with your school in any direction, no account is accessed, and your record here runs against a client number rather than your name. What appears on a card statement is deliberately uninformative. This is not a policy that has exceptions for particular circumstances.
